About Vin Servillon
Vin Servillon is a New York City-based Filipino American contemporary artist known for his distinctive acrylic paintings featuring surreal, biomorphic forms and dreamlike landscapes. His work explores themes of identity, belonging, solitude, displacement, and the human experience.
Born in the Philippines and later immigrating to the United States, Servillon's experience of navigating different cultures and searching for a sense of belonging has profoundly influenced his artistic perspective. The complexities of identity, memory, and the meaning of home are recurring themes throughout his practice. His work reflects both the deeply personal experience of immigration and the universal human desire to find connection and a place in the world.
A self-taught artist, Servillon has developed a distinctive visual language that exists somewhere between the familiar and the imagined. His paintings depict enigmatic, faceless, biomorphic forms inhabiting otherworldly landscapes, where gestures, postures, and the relationships between figures become expressions of emotion. By removing recognizable human features, he creates space for viewers to project their own memories, experiences, and interpretations onto the work.
Rather than depicting the immigrant experience literally, Servillon explores its emotional landscape through imagined worlds and unfamiliar beings. His figures often exist in states of transition, solitude, or quiet companionship, reflecting the tension between isolation and connection, vulnerability and resilience, and the longing to belong. These themes extend beyond any single identity or experience, inviting viewers to recognize something of themselves in his work.
His career includes gallery exhibitions and major artistic presentations in New York and internationally. He held a solo presentation at Saks Fifth Avenue, where his artwork was prominently featured in the landmark flagship's iconic windows. He was subsequently selected as an Artist in Residence at Bergdorf Goodman, where his paintings were exhibited throughout the institution and showcased in its celebrated Fifth Avenue windows. His career also includes collaborations with fashion houses and features in art and cultural publications.
Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Servillon combines traditional brushwork with airbrush techniques to create atmospheric compositions that balance intimacy, mystery, and emotional depth. His practice continues to evolve through painting and sculpture, expanding an imagined universe that reflects his ongoing exploration of identity, connection, and the search for belonging.
At its core, his work is about what it means to be human, to feel out of place, to seek connection, and to find meaning in the spaces between where we come from and where we hope to belong.
